Kimberly is currently a semi-finalist in the Nash Next Challenge, where she is being featured in a series of nationwide social media challenges.
A series of 5 Social Challenge Rounds will be conducted, each round will eliminate 15 performers and bands, until the top 10 performers and bands are selected to compete in the final round.
The grand prize winner will be signed to the new NASH Next record label, with the Top 10 also participating in the NASH Next concert tour, which will kick off in early 2016.
Fans can also register to be judges. Online engagement between fans and artists will be measured and counted in the talent competition. That means that fans will be directly involved in finding and choosing the next generation of country stars.
The winner will be decided by a combination of three industry professionals, who will serve as judges, a “Spin Index” tracking social media activity plus voting on the NASH Next website. The three industry pros in charge of judging the talent include KIX BROOKS, best known as one-half of the award-winning duo Brooks & Dunn, is a top songwriter and radio personality on Nash radio. JOHN DICKEY serves as the executive vice president and co-chief operating officer of Cumulus Media, which owns several radio stations throughout the U.S., Nash Country Weekly magazine and the Nash Icon record label. The third judge, award-winning record producer JAMES STROUD, has worked with such artists as Reba McEntire, Tracy Lawrence and Clay Walker and was formerly the president of Giant Records.
NASH Next offers something different for competitors, Kix points out, because the competition will be promoted on more than 200 Cumulus radio stations. “You’ll be getting the radio and network support, and that is the game changer,” he says.
“This is going to be groundbreaking for a couple of reasons,” offers John Dickey. “What we are really pioneering is the way we’re going about discovering talent. This is going to be the first of its kind in the sense that no one has ever tried to undertake a talent search exclusively online. Also, the Spin Index that we’re creating will help measure and determine the viability of the talent. No one has ever really looked at fan engagement with an artist or a band and tried to quantify how that can predict success in the music business.”
